The Journey of Joanne Ellis: From Numbers to Souls

From Accountant to Healer

Joanne Ellis began her career immersed in the world of numbers, excelling as an accountant and business analyst for 13 years. But by the time she turned 28, the relentless pace of overwork had taken its toll, leaving her body, mind, and emotions out of balance. Diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, Joanne was forced to re-evaluate her life. This marked the beginning of her healing journey, where she discovered the transformative power of meditation and Rebirthing Breathwork. These practices sparked a profound awakening, illuminating a path of self-discovery and purpose.

At 31, Joanne left her accounting career to focus on raising her family while pursuing her passion for Psychosynthesis under the mentorship of Lou Hogg at the Psychosynthesis Institute of Australia. Psychosynthesis taught Joanne to integrate the mind, body, and soul, focusing on emotional release and higher self-integration. As part of her training, Joanne began running workshops and mentoring clients one-to-one. During these sessions, she discovered that by guiding people into the sensations within their body, they could access the origins of deep emotional wounds, often uncovering childhood or even past-life traumas.

Exploring Past Lives and Ancestral Healing

Intrigued by these insights, Joanne delved into Past Life Regression, studying with Dolores Cannon in New Zealand. She began helping individuals explore how ancestral and past-life wounds influenced their current life challenges. Joanne also facilitated visualisation and meditation groups, guiding participants to experience profound inner peace and connection. Through Gestalt Therapy, a key part of her Psychosynthesis toolkit, Joanne enabled clients to integrate fragmented subpersonalities, helping them align with their Higher Self.

Discovering Vipassana Meditation

In 2008, Joanne attended her first 10-day silent Vipassana retreat, a life-changing experience. Vipassana meditation, which focuses on observing sensations and the psychosomatic nature of the mind, taught her how the subconscious creates stories to shield itself from pain. Joanne adopted a daily Vipassana practice and committed to yearly retreats, which provided greater emotional stability and clarity. Over time, she came to understand how subconscious patterns triggered emotional reactions and developed tools to navigate them effectively.

Building Community and the Communication Bridge

Joanne’s passion for fostering connection led her to the Yamagishi Community in 2010, where she participated in an eight-day retreat. This transformative experience inspired her to adapt their unity-based communication style, which she introduced to her own community as the Communication Bridge. This approach became a cornerstone of her work, helping groups foster harmony and collaboration.

Navigating Deep Grief and Transformation

In 2019, Joanne’s life was shaken to its core when her 21-year-old son tragically took his own life. Overwhelmed by grief, she realised that healing was not a destination but a journey. Through her Vipassana practice and Psychosynthesis training, Joanne found a way to process the immense emotional charge of her loss. Gradually, she emerged with a tender heart and a deep understanding that all souls who touch our lives remain forever within us.

The Creation of Gentle Trauma Release (GTR)

In 2022, Joanne began experimenting with a new approach to releasing emotional charge from overwhelming situations. Drawing on her decades of experience, she developed a process she called Gentle Trauma Release (GTR). This technique involves symbolically representing emotional charges, allowing the imagery to expand and dissolve in a process she describes as “Popping.” By releasing the emotional energy tied to past wounds, individuals experience a profound sense of peace and clarity, reclaiming their true selves.

Joanne introduced GTR to the Gene Keys community, her clients, and loved ones, witnessing its transformative power in breaking cycles of emotional distress. Today, she offers GTR as a one-to-one process and is finalising an online, self-paced course. The course includes guided journeys, instructional videos, and insights into how belief systems are formed and how to release them.

Living a Life of Purpose

Joanne’s journey from a numbers-driven professional to a soul-driven guide has been marked by extraordinary challenges and profound growth. Through Gentle Trauma Release and her many other offerings, she continues to help others heal, integrate, and reclaim their wholeness. Her work embodies her lifelong commitment to unity consciousness and heart-centred living.
